Volunteer
Make a difference in the lives of our clients by volunteering with Indo-American Center
Literary Tutors and Instructors
Literacy tutors and instructors have the opportunity to teach or tutor adult English language learners as they develop reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Volunteers can either teach a regular class, a small group or work individually with students. Classes meet Monday-Thursday afternoons, 3 to 5 pm and Saturday mornings, 10 am to noon.
Literacy training is provided, including 12 hours of ELL training through Literacy Works and ongoing observation of staff instructors and seasoned volunteers. Volunteers are also given the opportunity to network with fellow volunteers at ongoing supplemental trainings offered through Literacy Works and IAC’s Education & Employment department.
