The Indo-American Center’s Computer Education program provides clients with basic technology training and access to computers. Closed-enrollment classes, open internet café time, and volunteer mentorship are provided to allow students to gain the computer skills they need.
The Computer Education program offers beginning and intermediate computer skills classes. Beginning students learn the basics of computer hardware, software, the internet and successfully creating and utilizing email accounts. These skills enable them to keep in touch with family members outside of the United States and pursue employment opportunities.
As intermediate students, students learn Microsoft Word and Excel, advanced internet browsing, and file organization. These classes also focus on typing skills and provide students with a basic technology framework upon which they can build.
For a few hours each day, the lab is open to the public for personal use. Students and adults utilize computers to check email, complete assignments, practice typing, and web surfing.
